I was recently invited to attend a Blogger Event at IKEA West Chester. Ironically, the brand new IKEA catalog had arrived in my mailbox that very same day. Needless to say, I could not make that commute up I-75 fast enough to get to the event!
I’ve loved IKEA for as long as I can remember, but after this event I found even more reasons to love them. The focus of the new IKEA catalog is on real people and giving them the freedom (with design, with cooking) to do what makes them happy. I love that, and I found myself noticing so many similarities in these core values of IKEA, and what I strive to accomplish on this site.
During the event, I got to experience many new (and definitely new to me) aspects of the IKEA West Chester store. I wish I could share every single detail of the night, but I picked out some favorites to focus on today.
I was probably most impressed with the food options at IKEA. I have to be completely honest- I’ve never eaten in the IKEA restaurant before. I’ve never even splurged on the cinnamon rolls at the end of a trip, regardless of how amazing they always smell. I realize now that I’ve been missing out on a great aspect of the IKEA store.
We were served several cocktails created with the elderflower and lingdonberry syrups that are sold at IKEA. They were so delicious. This one, Sparkling Elderflower with Lavender, was amazing! I can’t wait to recreate it at home.
Another fun sampling was the “IKEA Meatball 3 Ways”. We got to enjoy a buffalo and blue cheese meatball, a veggie meatball with mushroom and sweet potato, and my favorite, a huevos rancheros style meatball.
I also really liked this table display featuring many different place setting styles. It really was a great way to showcase just how many different looks you can create using IKEA pieces.
And of course, it’s not a complete dinner party without the infamous “kids’ table”. I love that at IKEA, “The kids’ table is the place to be”. Can you argue that with this fun spread?!?! From costumes to puppets, to board games and craft supplies, IKEA really does a great job of catering to the younger crowd.
For all those out there planning a wedding or preparing to welcome a new baby– get this! IKEA is rolling out a GIFT REGISTRY!!! How awesome is that?! We are so fortunate that our IKEA West Chester store is one of the first in the nation to offer this service.
Another one of my favorites of the night was the section on nature. These little greenhouses are just the cutest and I’m thinking I might purchase them to try my hand at growing fresh herbs in my windowsill this winter.
Whenever I visit IKEA, I make sure to pick up a couple of their live plants. They are inexpensive and I always have really good luck at keeping them alive. They also have a super selection of succulents…both alive and artificial.
We wrapped up the night with a sneak peek at the complete new line of IKEA cookware and a look at specs for their newly redesigned spaces. We also sampled a new blend of organic coffee and snacked on Cinnamon bun rusk.
When I left IKEA after this event, my heart was so incredibly full. The entire team at IKEA West Chester- from Interior Designers to Head Chefs to Visual Media Directors and HR Managers- went above and beyond in every regard, making the night one that I will remember with a smile for a very long time. It felt as though I was being welcomed into their home, one that they loved very much and wanted me to love equally. It was beyond anything I would have imagined experiencing, and I’m so grateful for having the chance to be a part of it all.
The motto of the night, and perhaps of the entire 2017 IKEA catalog is, “It’s always the same old story. Make today a page turner.” I think I just might. 🙂
