Our Latest Project: Kid Bathroom Updates

I decided it was time to tackle another area in the house…the kids’ bathroom.  Here’s a picture of what it looked like when we moved in (literally…I didn’t have a picture, so I found this one in our original listing info!  I love going back to look at the way things looked when we bought this place…we’ve definitely put lots of our own touches on it.)  Like many other spaces here, everything was functional and nice, but this does not scream KID BATHROOM to me.  It almost whispers boring old person bathroom if you listen closely… I painted the vanity in here a couple of summers ago, as a trial run before I attempted our kitchen cabinets.  I used Behr paint in Honied White, and it was enough to help for a while. Last weekend, I painted the walls (Comfort Gray by Sherwin Williams) and replaced the hardware on the vanity.  I picked these from D. Lawless Hardware and I REALLY love them.  They have a very chunky, solid look and almost a square shape …

Make a Statement: End Table Refresh

While this is a sponsored post, all opinions are completely my own.   It’s that time again…the big reveal of my latest project for the monthly Fab Furniture Flippin’ Contest!  I love getting to be a part of this group and having the opportunity to try new products each month.  For the month of February, the sponsor was DecoArt (specifically their Americana Chalky Paint), and the theme was “Make a Statement”. I’ve used quite a few of DecoArt’s products over the years in my crafting adventures, but I had never used this line of paint, so I was really excited to give them a shot!  You can check out everything that DecoArt has to offer here. I knew right away which piece I wanted to tackle for this month’s theme.  A good friend has recently gone through a pretty major life change and is about to move into a new house.  As she was telling me all about the bold color choices in her almost finished house, I knew these end tables I was refinishing …

Kids Butterfly Valentine Using Bubbles from the Target Dollar Spot!

I had a really fun Valentine craft planned that involved sewing little paper pouches and filling them with candy.  Sadly, I won’t be showing you that craft just yet.  You see, my sewing machine is currently NOT my friend.  I’m working on winning her back over, and will be sure to share that  project just as soon as I’m able. In the meantime, I took a trip to Target with my two lovely littles.  They both made a beeline to the Valentine’s Day display with the boxes filled with all their favorite characters. Brady immediately selected Spiderman cards; Addy took FOREVER.  Like really, I’m pretty sure this decision was in her mind comparable to an adult selecting a new car.  She went from Minions (okay)…to puppies (perfect)….to Spongebob (absolutely not)…to Frozen (typical)…to finally her selection. Ready for this?  The Good Dinosaur.  YES.  She’s her own self, and I love that about her.  It was a somewhat shocking choice, but at the same time, it was totally Addy.  I think she was mostly excited about the …
