I’ve decided to add a new section to the blog, which I’ve titled Explore. Expect to find unique experiences, beautiful locations, and little-known places to explore in this section. As a true Kentucky girl at heart, I decided to start with a hometown spot.
Evan’s Orchard is located in Georgetown, Kentucky and it is a must on the fall season to do list in my family. We discovered this little gem about 4 years ago, when Addy was only a few months old, and have returned for at least one visit a year ever since. Although fall is the perfect time to visit, Evan’s Orchard is open throughout the spring and summer as well. I recall one particular summer visit…it was probably the hottest day of the summer, but my kiddos and I and their favorite Aunt Sabrina spent the ENTIRE day there. Really, we got the first parking spot of the day and then closed them up at night too. Want to totally wear your kids out? Let them spend a day at Evan’s Orchard in the summertime!
If you visit this fall, expect a pumpkin patch, fall festival booths on the weekends, a petting zoo, and likely local musicians playing their tunes. The orchard definitely gets the most crowded during this peak season, so if you plan to visit I would recommend planning on arriving first thing in the morning. The good news is that the rest of the offerings at Evan’s Orchard are available throughout the spring and summer months as well. So, even if you can’t squeeze this awesome day trip into your plans in the next few weeks…keep it in mind when the first signs of spring arrive.
One of my personal favorite parts of the orchard is the acres and acres of you-pick fruits (and veggies!) We’ve gone out into the orchard to pick apples, and it was SO COOL! I loved getting to select the perfect, fresh apples off the trees. The variety was fantastic, and I was amazed at the prices, which were comparable to what I would pay in the grocery store. We’ve only ever picked the apples, but the orchard provides many you-pick opportunities depending on the season.
If you were to ask my kids what they like best about Evan’s Orchard, it would be the play area. It’s pretty awesome! Here are some shots of Brady and Addy enjoying this area over the years…apparently I’ve become a slacker mom because I don’t have many recent ones, but the ones of them little sure are cute!
Our highlights definitely include the little tractors (Brady always picked pink when he was younger), the huge slide, and the corn play area. We also have some fun memories from the time my brother and sister decided to race in the “rat racers”…quite the comical sight to see those two twenty-somethings get competitive at the kid play place. There are many other components to the play area, including a maze and a huge jumping “pillow”.
Evan’s Orchard also has a great gift shop area (lots of homemade food items and fun, Kentucky-themed crafts and treasures) and a small cafe/bakery (rib-eye sandwich and apple dumplings…need I say more?!). There is really something for every member of the family, and enjoying everything on a perfect Kentucky day makes it all even better.

And crazy enough, as I’m finishing up this post, Brandon asks when we are going this year (he’s at work and had no idea what I was working on). Looks like we will be headed to the orchard next Sunday…maybe we will see you there. 🙂
